Raising money for Make-A-Wish was so much fun this year. Lots of friends joined in the madness and children were so excited wearing their costumes to class.
The best news of all is that we raised a whooping £421!! This money was appreciated as it will help very poorly children’s dreams come true. Below, I have typed out the letter I received along with the certificate
Dear DancePro Academy,
On behalf of Make-A-Wish UK, I would like to say tremendous thank you for fundraising for us. It is people like you that allow us to grant life-changing wishes for critically ill children. We sincerely appreciate all your fundraising efforts and hope you enjoyed your week of dance classes! We know how much time and energy goes into organising fund-raising events. Please do pass on our thanks to all those who have supported you. The donation of £421.12 will help us continue making wishes come true for children such as Brandon.
Brandon’s illnesses started with nosebleeds when he was three, too heavy and often to be normal. Then other symptoms crept in; rashes, joint pain, weight loss, tiredness. It was all too much to ignore for his mum, Sarah who says that, at his worst, “Brandon looked like he was at death’s door. He struggled to walk, was white as a sheet and covered in rashes. When he was too poorly for school, he struggled emotionally and lost a lot of self-confidence.
Sarah said “When the hospital suggested we apply for a wish for Brandon I was quite upset- I thought Make-A-Wish only granted wishes for children with terminal illnesses. Brandon didn’t think he deserved to wish because he said others are worse off than him. But after the arrival of his wish book, filled with ideas and prompts, his imagination got going. He is nature- mad and is a David Attenborough fan! He had the idea stuck in his mind when the Wish Visitors came he wanted to stay in a log cabin by a river in the Highlands!
Wishgranter Lucy worked closely with the family and together they planned an amazing adventure for Brandon. “We went on plenty of adventures! Pony trekking on native highland ponies, fishing, and we even visited Loch Ness and many other places. Branding planted an oak sapling near our log cabin and we’ve agreed if we don’t go back to before we’ll go back in 10 years to see how much it has grown!!
We would like to thank everyone who has made this amazing wish possible, we’ve made so many happy memories that will last a lifetime! “
We simply cannot grant wishes to children like Brandon without your support. So, thank you once again from all of us at Make-A-Wish and on behalf of all our wish children and their families.
