About DancePro Academy

Founded by Gill Grueber, DancePro Academy brings the love of dance and performing arts to all its students, aged 3 to young adult.

DancePro Academy offers term-time classes in many genres for children and teens, including baby ballet for students as young as 2.5 years, exams in ISTD Modern Theatre, Ballet and Tap. Musical Theatre and Street dance classes.  Students also have the opportunity to perform in a show at the Hertford Theatre every year.

DancePro Academy founder and Artistic Director, Gill Grueber guarantees to keep classes’ fresh, fun and creative, always maintaining a professional standard. Miss Gill has had vast experience in the professional world of musical theatre, performing in movies and on stage in West End Theatres such as the London Palladium and The Lyceum.  Not only a performer, Miss Gill has Choreographed for TV and stage and taught in many schools throughout Ireland and the UK.  To read more about DancePro Academy’s Principal click here.

Here at DancePro Academy, we endeavour to continue spreading the love of performing to everyone believing the skills learned in class can be used throughout life and not just within the studio.  Posture, core strength, eye contact, ccoordination kinaesthetic awareness are all important attributes in every walk of life.  It is our aim to encourage children to achieve their personal best whilst enjoying their love of dance. Miss Gill Grueber, Principal

In 1997 Gill graduated from Doreen Bird College with a Dance and Musical Theatre Diploma, Honours in her ballet, modern and tap Advanced 2 ISTD examinations and Distinctions in her Associate teaching qualifications, in the same genres. 

Gill began a 10 year career as a professional dancer working with prestigious choreographers such as Rob Ashford, Kevin Allan and Arlene Philips plus internationally respected directors including Oliver Stone. 

Her theatre credits include ‘The Lion King’ Lyceum Theatre, West End, ‘Tabaluga and Lily’ Germany, ‘Saturday Night Fever’ London Palladium, West End, ‘Eejit of Love’, ‘Cinderella’, Jack and the Beanstalk, Dublin.  Gill’s film and television work includes appearing in Hollywood movie ‘Alexander the Great’ with Colin Farrell for Warner Bros. Pictures and Kevin Spacey who directed and starred in Lion’s Gate Films  ‘Beyond the Sea’  She has also appeared in various commercials including tap dancing for The Halifax Building Society.

Other works would include a contract with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Visualantix Ballet Company, Modelling for Buffalo shoes and performing at British telecommunications at their opening ceremony in Geneva.  Gill has choreographed for TV show’s ‘You’re A Star’ and ‘Rock Rivals’.  Theatre choreography would include ‘High School the Musical’ ‘Grease’  ‘ We Will Rock You’ ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Jack in the Beanstalk’ and ‘Aladdin’.

Gill then decided to continue her teaching career with students and professionals in various schools and companies such as the Monica Loughman ballet company and Ballet Ireland. She obtained more qualifications with the ISTD and now holds DDI and DDE in Ballet, modern and tap and a Licentiate and recently achieved her Fellowship in Ballet.

Having opened DancePro Academy in 2013, Gill could not be happier and feels there are so many more avenues yet to explore.  

Gill has obtained her Fellowship Qualification in Ballet, holds a DBS certificate and has undergone the Safeguarding Training Level 1 and Level 2.  She has also completed Paediatric First Aid Training Course with Babybee Safe, A Practical Guide to GDPR  and most recently Child Protection Level 2, Dyslexia Awareness, level 2 and Autism Awareness, Level 2.  In 2021, Gill has begun her PG Cert Ed and is looking forward to understanding more about the methods of teaching.
